HP Launches Android Netbook

android-netbookNetbook with Android, operating system from Google become more and more popular. One of the new vendor of this product is HP.

Under Compaq brand, HP Airlife 100 netbook is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon ARM processor which found in many smart phones, including the Nexus One from Google.

Apparently, the difference between these two devices – smart phones and netbooks – was only on the screen and keyboard size are almost full-size on HP devices.

HP Airlife 100 has screen 10.1 “with a 16GB SSD which is supported by an SD card slot. Features Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS are embedded in this netbook. Wireless access via 3G causes HP have to partnered with Telefonica operators.

On the netbook arena, Android was not welcomed as glorious as smart phone. He was considered too light for netbook Operating System. However the good news is, it has impressive battery power. HP says it can stay active up 12 hours with standby time that reaches up to 10 days.

The HP Airlife 100 price has not been announced yet.


RIM Make Twitter application for BlackBerry

Twitter users are now free to access these microbloging services through a smartphone by using a number of third-party applications such UberTwitter, Viigo, or Snaptu. But, for special BlackBerry, Research In Motion (RIM) will release a Twitter application for BlackBerry.

The application is in beta version now, but it already can be used at this time. However, it can be downloaded and used by a particular user who received a special invitation to try it.

“Twitter for BlackBerry smartphones will soon be available for download, so you can do all your favorites on Twitter,” RIM statement on its website.

It has complete features such as Twitter update information, send private messages, reply tweet, re-tweet, follow friends, and do a searching. You can even send link directly from the BlackBerry browser, upload photos, and join in the discussion.


Facebook Acknowledge There is an API Problems for BlackBerry

Facebook application problems that can not be worked on BlackBerry had complained from users throughout the world. Facebook acknowledges that it happens because there is a problem in the API (application programming interface) that developers use to build applications.

“We have a problem with our API so that multiple users can not access the current through the device. API is designed so that partners can provide the operator a solid Facebook application. We’re still trying to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” that was the statement from Facebook Erictric site.

As the display changes in its web version, Facebook is releasing a new version of the API through their developer blogs. API changes are probably not directly followed by Research In Motion (RIM) on his BlackBerry service.

However, some users reported that the Facebook application on BlackBerry is working again starting Thursday afternoon. In fact, it looks little changed with the addition if the update status icons with links to specific sites, such as YouTube icon if there is a link to a video sharing site in the news feed menu.


Symbian Start Debut as Open Source

symbianStarting today, Thursday (2/4/2010), Symbian that is widely used in the smartphone device made its debut as an open source platform. Symbian Foundation was officially released open source package for kernel packages Services & Hardware Symbian platform that is free download at their site.

“Kernel & Hardware Package Services is a foundation while the rest of the platform is being developed,” that is the introduction on the Wiki page for Symbian developers. With the release of the Symbian open source package that is officially starting today Symbian is used and modified freely without charge.

Symbian is still the dominant platform in the global handset market and is used by a lot of smartphone vendors. However, major challenges with the entry of major competitors like RIM, Apple, and Google. Last year, Nokia took over all shares of Symbian and decided to make it as open source platform to facilitate the support of content developers.

However, in transition, the new Symbian Foundation provides most of the open source platform with royalty-free license only for members with a license called the Symbian Foundation License (SFL). Source code is open to the public with a license EPL (Eclipse Public License) begins with the kernel and is scheduled to be opened completely in mid-2010.

Intel’s latest products is specifically oriented for the businessman and small medium businesses that are equipped with more sophisticated safety features and business management.

Intel Core vPro 2010 processor has many advantages, e.g it can run the business productivity applications more quickly to 80 percent and can multiple application run more faster. With Intel vPro Core 2010 processor, the data that absorbed into the PC can be encrypted three times faster than the servers that existed previously.

Interestingly, Intel’s new Core vPro has integration features for keyboard-video-mouse that can protect users from theft of confidential data and assets up to 3.5 times faster. Google No Longer Supports Internet Explorer 6

ie6Google announce to stop support for Internet Explorer 6 or IE6 and other old web browser. Starting March 1, 2010, Google site and some services are no longer able to displayed with these browsers.

“Many other companies have stopped supporting the older browsers like Internet Explorer 6.0, including a browser that is not supported by the manufacturer company. We also begin to abandon our support, starting from the Google Docs and Google Sites,” said Rajen Sheth, Google Apps Senior Product Manager in the Google enterprise blog.

Previously, Ars Technica site release, since August 2009, Google said it would end support for IE6 YouTube service and social network, Orkut. When IE6 users visited these services, they will be warned to immediately switch to the latest browser, such as IE8, Chrome, and Firefox.

Sheth says that web technology has grown rapidly in the last ten years from the text based to interactive applications and rich with video and sound. Browsers that are too old can not run the new features. This year there would be a breakthrough in Google applications and services and they wants to ensure that all Internet users to be able to enjoy it.

“So, take advantage of the opportunity to switch to the latest available browser,” he said. Some of the recommended browsers include a minimum of Google Internet Explorer 7.0, Mozilla Firefox 3.0, Google Chrome 4.0 and Safari 3.0.

Previously, Microsoft itself admits that IE6 is not feasible and many shortcomings that urged users to immediately switch to a newer version. the last time Microsoft released a patch to the gap in IE6 weaknesses suspected to be the door for hackers to attack the infrastructure of Google and dozens of large companies in other U.S.. However, Microsoft still provide support for IE6 patch until 8 April 2014.
