Via Mobile Browsing Still Number One

browsingActivities of people using mobile internet browsing is still dominated compared to other activities, such as e-mail or social networking.

“A third of smartphone users to browse the world still,” said Vodafone chief executive Vittorio Colao as she spoke in Nokia World 2010 event in London, England, Tuesday (Wednesday, 15.9.2010).

According to Colao, browsing activities on this smartphone still above business activities (30 percent), games (25 percent), e-mail (20 percent), and social networking (15 percent). This percentage is, according Calao, should be adopted by any mobile phone vendors, including Nokia.

“Do not forget, music and video grows rapidly. Smartphone vendors must create an application that enables smartphone users to enjoy music and video services,” he said.

Colao explains, the trend of smartphones in the future is the “democratization” for its users so that everyone has equal rights in making use of every feature and application in it. For this reason, Nokia and Vodafone in cooperation with business to meet the preferences of a variety of smartphone users

Nokia acquires Novarra, Strengthen its Mobile Web Browser

novarraThe world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer, Nokia, strengthen the web browser features for mobile device with the acquisition of Novarra, a developer of web browser for mobile device which is based in Chicago.

“Mobile browsers and Novarra-made services platform will be used to provide a better internet experience on Nokia mobile phones,” Nokia said in the press release after the acquisition last week.

Novarra browser named Vision supports Flash content and video, complex HTML with JavaScript and AJAX, RSS, and widgets. Other features are also as sophisticated as other desktop browser as fit the screen options, zooming, scrolling, and password management.

Until now Novarra browser has been used in many different cell phone vendors including Nokia, Motorola, LTE, Kyocera, and Motorola. Novarra browser was developed for GSM and CDMA based devices.
