I use my DVR to record my favorite shows while I am at work and while I am home. About 80% of the television shows that I currently watch are through my extra satellite tv packages and DVR. Basically, the way that I watch television now is totally different. I rarely watch live TV any more, and I use my DVR along with my satellite television with no problems.

I record American Idol, Friends and Seinfeld re-runs, Family Feud and Man Vs Food. These are my favorite shows to watch. I also watch some of the recommended shows, but I typically stick to my favorites. I also love to record old movies that I haven’t seen in years. I don’t use any of the advanced features on my DVR, I typically stick to recording shows, fast forwarding and rewinding live television.

I think that it is so amazing to be watching one television show while my DVR is recording another show at the exact same time. This technology truly amazes me. Believe it or not, I never used a DVD player. I went straight from my VHS to my DVR. What an upgrade! The learning curve was steep for me, and I am still learning. Eventually I plan to learn all of the features. My DVR saves me a ton of time. Because of this technology, I never have to rush to the television to see a show anymore, and I can forward through commercials.
